The twelve year-old Gumball Watterson, a humanlike blue cat, and his adopted goldfish brother Darwin attend middle school in the made-up city of Elmore, California, in the animated sitcom ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’, which was developed by Ben Bocquelet for the channel Cartoon Network, Anais . They frequently become involved in mischief around the city where they get to know their younger sister Anais, mom Nicole, father Richard, and a large supporting cast of individuals.
Anais Watterson: Bio
The tritagonist & one of the central protagonists of ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ is Anais Watterson. Despite only being four years old, she is the Watterson family’s youngest member and the most sensible. She attends Elmore Junior High with her elder brothers, Gumball & Darwin, and is now in next grade than them, as is shown in “The Others,” where she will eventually be in 9th grade.

“The Amazing World of Gumball”‘s three protagonists are Anais Watterson. The youngest and sharpest character on the program, she is a four-year-old rabbit who is frequently referred to as a genius and attends school alongside brother. Gumball dislikes how she constantly tells him things.
Anais Watterson: Appearance
Anais was initially intended to be a deep pink bunny with a small pink tail in the original sketch. Her head was noticeably longer, and her eyes were also longer. Anais donned red socks and a yellow dress having a white trim. Her arms & ears were far shorter than those of her final design, unlike how they appeared on the episode. She most strongly resembles her current design at a later stage of development, but with whiskers.
Anais is a little pink bunny with a white tail that appears in the series. She resembles her father, Richard, but is smaller in stature, looks more feminine, and lacks beards. Her tongue has a light pink color, while the inside of Anais’s throat is a deeper pink. The same as her older brother Gumball, she has a red nose. She has big hips, like Nicole and Gumball, according to “The Castle.” Anais typically sports white stockings and a tangerine dress with just a white accent. She, along with Darwin & Granny Jojo, are the only people of the Watterson family who dress in shoes.
Her appearance alters in season 2. Like the rest of the characters, her eyes are oval. She has lighter pink complexion, is somewhat taller, and has grown in bulk to the point where she almost reaches Darwin.
Personality
Infancy
When Anais was left alone with Gumball & Darwin, she changed from being an innocent newborn infant to a dangerous threat who was able to trick everyone and get away with torturing her brothers.
Intelligence
Despite being the youngest and by far the smartest person in her family, Anais is too young to be fully acknowledged or treated seriously by adults. She acts & speaks with a fair amount of maturity and reason. She has demonstrated an aptitude for problem-solving on countless occasions. Because of her unusually high IQ, Anais, who is only four years old, attends Elmore Junior High; nevertheless, she is not in the same grade as her brothers & instead attends a 8th grade situated somewhere else in the school. Sometimes others praise Anais for her brilliance, as in the clip “The Password,” where Gumball calls her a “smart girl” after learning of her scheme to use the computer exclusively once more by ejecting the Watterson family, as she did in “The Remote.”
Maturity
Aside from her mother, Anais might be said to be the family member that has the most maturity. She frequently looks out for her boys in a variety of ways, such as providing their breakfast and assisting them with their homework. She still has stuffed animals, albeit she is still young and sometimes acts silly.
Temper
Anais has demonstrated certain traits of her mother’s explosive temper. She frequently treats her in a nasty and patronizing manner.

It is made clear in “The Friend” how uneasy Anais is among people. She claims that she has no friends, which explains why nobody comes up at her party. In “The Egg,” as she just saw Billy, she got her fingers twisted into knots under the table.

Trivia
- She appears to have whiskers in the teaser images, but not in the episode, unlike the rest of the characters Darwin. It’s likely that the creators changed this at the last minute for an unidentified reason, perhaps to make her appear youthful or cuter.
- Her name is pronounced two ways throughout the show: typically (‘An-ni-ese’) in accordance with the name’s French origin, and sporadically (‘An-ni-is’) in accordance with English phonetics, usually by Darwin & Granny Jojo.
- In “The Quest,” Anais is the 1st character to talk, making her the very first character to do so throughout the entire production.
- Although she appears to be eight years old in Issue 8, but is actually four in the show.
