Darwin Watterson: Appearance

Darwin Watterson is a goldfish that is orange in colour and has arms and legs. His goldfish-shaped head dominates his entire body, with fins and legs dangling from it. He has kept his goldfish tail & fins, which he now utilised as hands and arms. His legs are significantly longer than his body, closing with plain feet that match the colour and texture of the rest of his body. He tends to cover them with green and white sneakers. As disclosed in the official trailer, Darwin has a bubbly butt on the back of the neck. Darwin’s insides are red, and his mouth is red-orange. The shadow cast by his head on his legs in his season 1 design was generally misinterpreted as a black shirt & pants.

Darwin is redesigned in Season 2. His black shadow has become more transparent, almost to the point of being undetectable. Darwin’s legs are also slightly thicker, and he has 2 eyelashes on each eye rather than three. His eyes, like those of his family, are rounder. Darwin’s eyes, like the rest of his family’s, have been permanently round since Season 3. Darwin was initially a 3D animated character in the first reel.

Personality: Darwin Watterson

Darwin is a cheerful and upbeat individual. He is positive, always trying to see the best in most situations, and always tries to have a smile on his face. He wants to be happy, but he also wants to see other people happy. In episodes like “The Fan,” “The Advice,” & “The Stories,” he performs heroic deeds of happiness. In all three episodes, he selects to do the things he does in order to cheer up a specific sad individual. Darwin is also a generous person. He can be seen in “The Flower” and “The Night” not desiring much and being satisfied with his current life.

Darwin is also extremely sensitive and compassionate. He is very fond of others, as evidenced by his conversations with his family, particularly Gumball, all through the series. This unconditional love may be a weak point of his; however, as a result, he is really very possessive of his dear ones and feels very alone when they are not present. Despite his general joy and happiness, Darwin has been recognised to become enraged when pressed beyond his limit. Even though it is a side of his character that is rarely seen, “The Banana” and “The Words” both reveal that when put in that situation, he can resort to mindless violence.
